Unfortunately I do not know as much as I would like about my Great Grandfather, but this is what I know.
He was a carpenter. His work is in many of the homes on Fifth Avenue, New York, NY. His carpentry is part of
a frame in the US Capitol building. I believe it is in either the East or West most stairwell. I believe
it is huge (>8ft x 10ft) and he contributed part of the work.
His primary language was Italian. I believe he never spoke English, or if so very limited. He was
college educated in Italy but because of the language barrier he was limited to carpentry rather than using his degree.
He immigrated to the USA through Ellis Island. From the Ellis Island records it says he was 33 upon arrival.
He rode on the S.S. Venezia from Naples, Italy to Ellis Island, NY. The ship departed
September 13th, 1911 and arrived in NY on September 28, 1911.
He was single, could read, and could write. It says his last permanent residence was Genova, Italy. His sister
paid the passage fee to get him to the US. He was going to live with his sister Beatrice Cenci living at East 48th
Street. He was not a polygamist, an anacharist. (yes, those things were actually on the manifest) He was in
Good physical and mental health. He was 5 ft 8 inchest tall, fair skinned, with brown hair. It says he was born in Italy.
